New Visboard in the works
July 29th, 2008

Seems there is a newly designed Visboard coming out from Proview. This is perhaps due to the poor reviews for the ‘VA1′ model from artists. The newer ‘VD1′ version is said to have removed the thick glass pane and is more responsive to pressure sensitivity.
There is also a 26″ version, notably larger than anything even Wacom has come out with.
More photos and specs can be found (in Russian) here .
Google Maps - Walking Around

Google has added a ‘Walking’ feature to their directions. I tried it out on a few locations in downtown Toronto. Based on my average walking speed, it’s very accurate!

I went to the CRA’s small business tax information seminar on Friday. Lots of good info, especially if you have some specific questions.
All of the CRA’s information documents are located online in PDF format, or can be mailed to you free of charge!

A book has been published featuring many illustrations used without permission by a publisher named ‘Great Creativity’ (uh huh).
Interviews with artists were also taken word for word from the LCS website.
Take a look here for more on the story.
Toshiba M200 - my first tablet
April 15th, 2008

I decided to give the tablet experience a try with an older (yet recommended) model from Toshiba, the M200. While the specs are much lower than one you would purchase today, it seems quite effective as a portable sketchbook (and just that, definitely not a workstation).
One main concern with virtually every tablet out there is the lack of programmable function keys. I’ve bypassed this issue by attaching a numeric keypad to the underside of the tablet, and using AutoHotkey to assign whatever functions I want.
SDreamer on the Tablet PC forums has a great tutorial on how to set this up. I’m using XP and seems to be working fine so far!
